Of itself, perhaps this statement remains true. However, equip someone with the latest digital technology, and things can start to look different very quickly! Whether for a book cover, a brochure, a website or any print or digital asset, I can create artwork and change images to suit. I can also source royalty free images for a project, subject to any budget made available. When it comes to photography, I always say it is better to get the image you want straight from the lens. Manipulating real-world photographs will only ever be second best to a perfect original shot. There is a lot you can do in post-production, but there is also a lot you can’t. I can work with images you provide for a book cover. This is the cheapest option saving time and money at the book cover design and artwork stage.

Like fine art, digital art can encompass many different techniques and styles. Digital art can be very clever and unique – you can do things with digital art that would be much harder using physical art and take a lot longer – and vice versa. There are times when digital art lends itself to a design and sometimes it is far better to use photography or fine art.

Image sourcing involves initial consultation with the client about the requirments they have such as the look and feel of the design, the message they want to convey, the mood they would like to set etc. From the information gathering, if you are not confident sourcing images, searches can be done via photolibraries, photographers and illustrators to find matches for the brief, or ideas and concepts for presentation and selection.
